Who Is Ron Teo?
Ron Teo is a Partner with IAM Advisory Group, a group of agency units representing HSBC Life Pte Ltd. Known as a coach, speaker and mentor to fresh graduates, Ron specialises in grooming these aspiring individuals in the financial services industry to create massive income breakthroughs by providing high value, open and personal relationships with our clients.
A consecutive qualifying member of the globally recognized Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Association, Ron stands among the Top 1% of Financial Professionals in the world. He qualified for numerous accreditations like MDRT and Top Rookie as a practitioner at the age of 22 by specializing in helping P.M.E.B. and High Net Worth families make sound financial decisions and have managed more than 100 million of his clients’ monies since 2004 in Banking and Financial Services Industry. Currently, Ron leads a dynamic referral-based practice with Digital and Evolutional methods.
Soon to be retiring from providing financial advice, Ron has shifted his focus to mentoring some of the best agency leaders and sales practitioners, empowering them to create business breakthroughs and make their mark as a Coach and Leader on the Singapore Financial Services landscape.

How Did My Journey Started?
When I was in my Poly days, I was fortunate to be selected to be in an internship in very big local company during 2001. My position was “Sales Associate”. YES! I was only 19 then!
I joined the Financial Services industry back in 2004.

At age 23, quarter million savings in the bank, driving a black M-series Sports BMW and sitting beside me is my beautiful girlfriend. What more can u ask for??!!!
The truth is, I was happy with my results for sure. However, I was not happy with my process of achieving it. Although I was the Top, I did not have any sense of fulfillment. The whole sales process was designed for products to be sold, and targets to be hit. I am certain my ‘clients’ buy from me is because I am just a very good salesperson.
What came to my realization was that if I will want to be a salesperson, I do not need to be in Finance after all, I CAN BE A SALESPERSON ANYWHERE!!!

During my stay in the bank, I did managed to learn and expand my financial knowledge with regards to more financial instruments, which I have to give credit to. At the same time, I realized that it is just to have more weapons in your arsenal so that you can get the sale.
To summarise, I am sure you heard before this saying ‘The Banker always win, the Player don’t.’ The same issue arise is that again the structure was designed for products to be sold and targets to be hit. It is a systemic, industrial and structural problem that we are facing.
I am grateful that I met up with a mentor, he guided me towards the right direction in life and get me on track back in this industry.
I was given opportunity to speak at major platforms to educate the public about financial planning. It was all along my passion that this business or profession should be done the right way by doing things right!!
